Pembrokeshire Bus fleet run on our oil

A fleet of 4 buses which make up the back bone of North Pembrokeshire’s public coastal service have started running on Veg Oil Motoring’s fuel. The fuel which is the UK’s most carbon neutral fuel is sourced entirely from used cooking oil collected in SW Wales.

The latest report by the UK Government’s Renewable Fuels Agency (RFA) shows that the fuel produced by Veg Oil Motoring is way ahead of any other UK biofuel in respect to carbon neutrality. Our fuel has a 99% greenhouse gas saving where as its closest rival only has a saving of 86%. The greenhouse gas savings of biofuels produced by multinational oil companies fair much worse in the range of only 33% to 60%. The comparison data that this is based on can be found by accessing the RFA’s April 2008 to April 2009 quarterly report and then going to the individual “Company data”

The UK Government’s Renewable Fuels Agency (RFA) have recognised that the refined used cooking oil produced by Veg Oil Motoring is the most carbon neutral fuel produced in the UK, that is monitored by them for sustainability. The fuel is listed as that with the highest greenhouse gas saving of any biofuel produced in the UK. The RFA’s quarterly report April 2008 to January 2009 which details this can be found here.

Speaker at Seminar “Biofuels – here to stay?” 5th August

As part of Pembrokeshire Sustainable Agriculture Network Events the seminar -‘Biofuels – Here to stay?’ will be held on Tuesday 5th August (7.30pm prompt start) at Nant-y-ffin Motel, Llandissilio, refreshments on arrival.

Speakers:
Harm de Wilde/Helena Athanasiou (Economists HGCA- Home Grown Cereals Authority) will give an overview of World and UK market in relation to biofuels.

Daniel Blackburn (Veg Oil Motoring) will give an introduction to the technology associated with the use of straight vegetable oil (SVO). This biofuel has been the most accessible for European arable farmers wanting to market their crop directly into the transport fuel sector. An overview of some of the current issues surrounding biofuels will be presented as well as a perspective of what the future could have in store for these types of fuels.

Veg Oil Community Mini Bus Launch

On July 3rd 2008 the Preseli Rural Transport Association (PRTA) launched their SVO converted minibus. This bus was converted by Veg Oil Motoring and will be providing vital community transport services particularly for the elderly in rural locations far from conventional bus services.
